A planned city of canals

Baltimore developers Leonard and Jack Rosen bought a 103-square-mile tract in 1957 and began building a planned community in 1958. The city incorporated on August 18, 1970 and has more than 400 miles of canals. Wikipedia calls it the largest city between Tampa and Miami in both population and area. It grew from 154,309 people in 2010 to 194,016 in 2020, and suffered major damage when Hurricane Ian made landfall nearby in 2022.
