Show them where you'll dig
Sunshine 811 says that if you're only digging in a small part of the yard, outlining it in white paint or flags tells the locate technicians where to look.

The homeowner exemption
Florida Statutes 556.108 exempts an owner digging on their own single-family property, but only up to 10 inches deep, with due care, and not on land being subdivided or on a utility's easement. Pools, trenches, stump grinding and clearing with machines go deeper than that.
